What's New?

2010 marks the centennial celebration of First Southern State Bank. One hundred years ago, our founders first opened the doors to our bank in service to Stevenson and Jackson County; and through the generations we have expanded our brand of banking to Scottsboro, Leesburg, Rainsville, Higdon, Centre and Ft. Payne.

First Southern State Bank was created to provide financial services to families and business owners who were largely ignored by bigger-city banks. Through the years, we have continued to embrace our mission of relationship-based, service-driven banking. As our 100th anniversary approaches, we welcome the opportunity to spotlight that mission with a celebration honoring our past and hosting our customers and communities.

On Friday, September 27, 2010, we commenced a weeklong celebration ending with the 100th Anniversary on Friday, October 1, 2010. In all locations, we held prize registrations throughout the week with prize drawings at the end of the week.

In Stevenson, we had:

  • A cookout
  • Entertainment
  • Displays of historical documents
  • Guest registration books with donations being made in honor of our guests to a local charity
  • Reading of Resolutions declaring Friday, October 1 as “First Southern State Bank Day” in Stevenson and across Alabama

For a century, First Southern State Bank has worked to exceed the expectations of generations of customers and we continue to follow our own model in the century ahead. And for the continuing opportunity to be of service to you, we thank you.
